My first days in Namibia

So the last time I had a placement abroad I went to Beijing. At that point my blog were all in Norwegian, but after my studying abroad (in Leeds, UK, for three and a half month) I decided to write it in English, even though my written English might be shit :p But for now, I can’t believe how incredibly lucky I am because this time it’s AFRICA. I’m currently sitting in the backyard of the guesthouse I’m staying at in a small town called Otjiwarongo in Namibia  I have a placement in two different kindergartens here and gonna stay in Namibia for 80 days before traveling to Zambia for a 10 days’ vacation. That’s just beyond awesome!!

So I got here two days ago feeling super excited all the way up to the passport control at the airport in Windhoek, Namibia. My home university told me, and the three other students I’m traveling with, that we didn’t need a visa… Great… We barely got in and now we have only 14 days to get this visa shit fixed :/

Other than some major issues at the border I really enjoy being here even though it’s only been two days. Otjiwarongo is a cute small town with maybe 25-30000 citizens. We live in a guesthouse with two small “flats” and a big backyard with a living room/common area, not far away from the city centre. The city centre is super tiny with a couple of clothing and grocery stores. We haven’t explored a lot of the city yet, but we’ve heard that we will know the city like a local by the end of the week. So for the next 78 days this little place in Namibia will be our home away from home!!
